BUCKINGHAM VILLAGE AFFORDABLE HOUSING

1,200 low-income residents soon face relocation when the reconstruction of Buckingham Village begins. Even the best options offered by the owners represent a net loss of over 300 affordable residences. What can you and your faith community do to stand in solidarity with the tenants? Subscribe to the goals of the Save Buckingham Coalition:

Preserve affordable housing

Avoid displacement of residents

Insist on an open and transparent community process

Establish well-maintained, safe, quality housing

Create options for tenant ownership.

VOLUNTEERS NEED
Short Term

The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) needs volunteers to sort and pack food collected by the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. Here’s an ideal service opportunity for adults and youth on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14. Saturday shifts are from 11:30AM-3:30 PM; and on Sunday from 2:30-5:30 PM. Long Term

The Arlington Interfaith Council needs the pro bono services of a VA attorney to serve as our Registered Agent. Call Rob Warne, 703 528 8782.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver wholesome meals to our shut ins. Can you help once a month, or serve as a substitute? Call Donna Cornman, 703 528 4377.

Warehouse Assistant, 30 hrs/week, from 8:30 AM-2:30 PM, M-F.

Driver, weekday mornings, hours flexible.
